The story of Hic et Nunc (HEN) provides a case study in the benefits of decentralization. The first and for a long time one of the most popular NFT marketplaces on Tezos, HEN was abruptly shut down by its founder in November 2021, leaving the art and artists that were on it apparently in limbo. But rather than let it die, the HEN community got a copy of the platform back up and running within weeks, with a new name - . That was only possible because the backend data was stored on IFPS, and the record of ownership was safe on the Tezos blockchain.
On September 30th, the Teia community will kick off a 3-day ‘HEN reunion mint party’, open to any artists minting on Tezos. The mint party, which has ‘no rules’, was the brainwave of artist and HEN veteran Rodell Warner, who hopes that after the market turbulence of the last few months, the event will recapture the original feeling of the early HEN community, where “we were doing everything in one place”
