With so many teams, entities, and communities in the Tezos ecosystem, it’s only natural that there will be a lot of channels and groups where discussions about Tezos’ future and governance happen. That, of course, leads to fragmentation of important thoughts, information, and makes it nearly impossible for someone to follow-up on all the important things that are being discussed.
This creates a need for a forum where people can post and read up on all the important thoughts and information about Tezos without having to roam through a hundred of different chats and scroll through thousands of gifs or irrelevant messages.
Enter Tezos Agora. Tezos Agora meets that need by providing a place for people to have a civil discussion, learn about the Tezos governance, and help plan the long term future of the blockchain in a very organized and civil manner. So in this short article we will take a look at a few things you can use Tezos agora for!
Discuss Tezos upgrade proposals and much more! #
The Tezos Agora forum is the place where bakers, smart contract devs, core devs, Tezos foundation, and generally all those interested in the Tezos community meet to discuss ideas, proposals, incidents, community updates, and the future of Tezos in general.
“Post it on Tezos Agora” is a frequently used phrase that I see people replying with when someone shares a good idea or a concern in one of the many chat groups that exist in the Tezos ecosystem and I think for good reason.
By posting your message on Tezos Agora, you have more chances for people to see your messages and it doesn’t get lost between a hundred other topic discussions that pop-up all the time in the live chat groups. It’s quite often I see people raising legitimate concerns in Telegram groups or posting good ideas on Twitter etc., where the people that need to see them will simply miss them. Don’t let you good idea go to waste and post today!
Learn how the Tezos governance process works #
Tezos (on-chain) governance is one of the best and most important features that Tezos has in its arsenal so it’s totally worth it to learn how exactly that process works.
By going to the “Learn” section of Tezos Agora, you can learn about the 5 different amendment periods, what each of them is about, what terms like “quorum” or “supermajority” are, and much more.
Monitor the governance periods #
One of the coolest features of Tezos Agora is that it allows you to monitor the governance process in real time. You can basically see it as a “Tezos governance explorer” which allows you to see things like which governance period we are going through, how much time is left for the period, how many and which bakers have voted, what their vote was(yay, nay, pass), if quorum and supermajority have been reached, and much more.
Having these insights in a clean and organized way makes it easy for anyone to follow the progress and to know what is going on in a transparent manner without the need of technical know-how.
Exploring (and creating) history. #
Since the start, Tezos has had 88 governance periods including the one we are going through at the moment. Tezos Agora gives you the ability to go through every one of them so you can check how every Tezos upgrade (13 total at the time of writing) has been implemented, what technical features were added, which proposals failed and why, and in general see the evolution of the chain since its inception.
In addition to that, through the forum, you can see discussions and arguments from the past as everything is more organized due to the nature of it being a forum where posts and comments are stickier compared to chat groups and easier to find.
Remember that the history of Tezos is still being created and you can be a part of it (we are still early!). Just like the “HODL” post in bitcoin forums back in 2013 that people still reference and can find even today, your posts or comments might become the Tezos history of tomorrow.
Get started! #
If you still haven’t visited the forum, go to the Tezos agora forum and create an account, then scroll through topics and threads that you find interesting and start interacting by liking and/or replying to posts and comments to start earning badges.
Most importantly start sharing your ideas, concerns, and thoughts and be a part of the Tezos history that is being created and documented.
Remember that this is the place to be when it comes to Tezos governance and the place you can find all the important names of the ecosystem in one place.
As always, if you need any help or have any questions feel free to leave a comment and of course subscribe for more interesting articles!
