With the 10th upgrade, Jakarta, setting the stage for increased scaleability, Kathmandu builds on that foundation and paves the way for much faster performance. New features proposed in Kathmandu include Smart Contract Optimistic Rollups (SCORUs), and support for a new permanent testnet, called ‘Ghostnet’, which will upgrade in sync with the Mainnet.
In the interview, Balfour explains why SCORUs are so important for boosting performance, and why he’s excited to see WebAssembly (WASM) support come to Tezos. He also goes into detail about how two Layer 1 solutions, sharding and rollups, could superpower TPS (transactions per second).
