Few weeks ago I covered some of the most important Defi projects in the Tezos ecosystem in my “Tezos Defi Map” article and since the Tezos Gaming scene is also having a lot of activity in terms of development, I thought it would be a good idea to write a Tezos Gaming Map article as well.
In this article we will see some of the most promising games and gaming projects on Tezos that are already live (or under development) all in one place.
Please note that this is for informational purposes only (some of the games I haven’t tried out yet), like always, you should do your own research. This article is meant to be informative and help you find games on Tezos.
With that out of the way, let’s check them out!
Games to Check Out Now: #
Created by Gif.Games, Tezotopia is one of the first and most popular games on Tezos where you can choose to be a Landlord, a Warlord, or both. As a Landlord you can buy, upgrade land, and earn yield from the resources your land produces(and sell them back to the market!). As a Warlord you can battle other players (PVP) with your units and win bets along with joining various tournaments and win bigger prizes! Live on mainnet with more updates coming. This game is constantly being developed and there is never a stale moment. You can even collect a free NFT to get started!
- Circuit Breaker (Sutuverse)
Circuit Breaker is another fun game in which you can sprint through a neon maze of obstacles, corridors, moving platforms, and activate hidden dimensions to seek out the fastest race time. PixelPotus is a digital collectable game where users can trade, buy, and sell cards of 45 different US presidents with 6 different rarities each. Combine lower rarity cards to get a higher rarity one until you get to claim you Unique rarity President card and claim from the (win a prize from the projects) Treasury! Live on mainnet with more expansions like “Pixel Debates” available.
Blockxer is a super fun arcade-style (oh the nostalgia!) game in which you start by choosing a hero and then fight various enemies (street thugs, villains, and rug-pullers; the worst people in the crypto ecosystems!) while walking down the street with the goal of setting new high scores. It’s currently in Beta mode but the goal is to eventually have everything in the game as an NFT. For a more in-depth look into Blockxer take a look at this article.
Chainborn is a fun player versus player (PvP) game where users have to summon their heroes using a PFP NFT from the various collections Chainborn supports (and they keep adding). Once you have summoned your hero you can battle other players over a bet you both set and also gradually raise your hero’s stats. The game is Live on mainnet.
Bunny Knights is a game based on an NFT collection of 2,500 medieval themed bunnies that are used as warriors in this pixel style game. Bunny Knights have attribute stats (Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity and Agility), levels, experience points, and they can be used to battle in the Bunny Knights Arena. You can also do tasks inside the project to get weapons and items. The game is live on mainnet.
Games under development #
Pigs At War is a super promising game where users will be able to build their personal home-base that can include farms, towers, training camps for your army, and much more as well as own heroes that you can level up for battles. The team behind the game often emphasizes the game-first mindset behind their design and development, something that is easily seen from the available (but limited) demo which I highly recommend to try out.
With 99k followers on Twitter and 91k members in their Discord, Dogami is one of the most anticipated games on Tezos. A mobile game with play-to-earn (P2E) mechanisms that will bring its users into the “Petaverse” with various activities around your favorite companion dog. Adopting, playing, competing, bonding, socializing, and much more will be available for anyone and of any age that is interested! Currently in closed Beta.
Matterlight is another upcoming trading card game where users will need to build their deck with various combos so that they can battle other players and win Victory and Control points to try and take a percentage of the revenue bank. The race is on. There is a demo on their website that you could try right now!
Knights of Tezonia will be a free to play 3D fantasy RPG that will also utilize NFTs on the Tezos blockchain. Users will be able to choose one of the 8 different classes of Knights which they will be able to customize and play while they journey through Tezonia. A demo of the game is currently available and you can find it in their discord.
Other Gaming Platforms #
Blockborn is a game-fied platform that highlights the biggest Web 3 gamers on Tezos by keeping leaderboards, running bounties, tournaments and competitions with great prizes for the various games on Tezos. Definitely worth checking it out as they are constantly bringing out new things and rewarding their active users.
Bloometa is the first curated gaming assets aggregator on Tezos. With so many different games, each having many different in game assets that are sold on many different marketplaces, it gets hard to look everywhere to find the best prices and deals. This is where Bloometa comes in, bringing all the different listings from various marketplaces, all in one place so your life gets easier.
Please note that I have only included games that are live or at least have a demo of the game available for people to try, that means that I have left out many promising games like RingWorlds, Tezotrooperz etc. Also it is worth mentioning that there are more games utilizing the Tezos project like Ubisoft’s "Ghost Reckon: Breakpoint" orEVE online that introduced “kill certificates” as NFTs on the Tezos blockchain.
Add to that the recent release of the Unity Plug-in (Tezos SDK) on their asset store and the future of the Tezos gaming scene looks highly promising.
