Marco Violet-Vianello is on a mission to meld AI with art. After working on an AI food-themed collaboration with French-based studio Obvious Art, violet Vianello became connected with plant-care company Sowvital, which has a mission to “put botanical art […] back on the map and into conversation in an age where care for the environment […] should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds”.
Violet-Vianello’s latest project, Metavert, is the fruit of that collaboration.
Metavert is a conceptual art project that uses AI to generate dynamic reproductions of flowers. Violet-Vianello teaches his AI algorithms by ‘feeding’ them images, which the AI then analyzes and groups by commonality, before using the data to create unique new forms. The results are a stunning blend of organic and artificial representations, organized into three collections, ‘Survival’, ‘Interpolation’ and ‘AI Herbarium’.
The video artworks are built on Tezos, and all proceeds from Metavert NFT sales go to to the Hasar Organization, which has a goal of planting one million oak trees in the Kurdistan Region by 2025.
