To mark Indonesia Independence Day on August 17th, TZ APAC teamed up with IDNFT (Indonesian NFT Community) to compile a roster of 17 artists from 17 cities across the country. The theme of the Independence Day collection is “optimism and a renewed spirit”.

The 17 artists represent, in TZ APAC’s words, Indonesia’s “brightest artistic minds”, and the roster includes creators working in various styles, from comic book art and animation to photography, with Indonesia’s traditional colors of red and white featuring heavily in several pieces.

Indonesia’s Independence Day, or Hari Ulang Tahun Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia marks the date of the proclamation of independence from the Dutch empire, on August 17th 1945. The proclamation was followed by several years of diplomatic and armed struggle with Japanese, Dutch and British forces before Indonesia’s independent status was finally acknowledged in 1949.
